I was going to talk about the fun things of formal,
But then, today we got some bad news.
A friend of mine, Katherine's dad passed away yesterday.
She didn't come to school today.
I don't really know her or her dad very well,
But it got me thinking.
He was fine before,
days before.
And now he's gone.
I recalled him being at our netball games, only in the beginning of this term.
And now, he'll never go to any anymore.
Kinda put things into perspective,
last week, we were all hyped up about the formal.
And now,
It's just, why did we even care about things like the formal, when people are dieing.
It's so stupid.
I watched my parents walking up the stairs of my school next to the canteen today,
after my subject choices talk.
And I couldn't help but think.
What if it was them?
What if it was my parents who had died?
What if my dad died overseas, when he was on one of his business trips, and I hadn't even said bye?
I don't think Katherine said bye.
Don't think she thought he'd go.
And to make it worse, she'd been on exchange for so long.
They could have done so much together...
That's all.
Let's pray for him, if he believes in God that is,
And hope that, wherever he is now,
He is happy there.
